Dr Jennifer Sciubba

Frontiers at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, both in Washington, DC. She is formerly a tenured professor at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, one of the nation’s leading liberal arts colleges. Dr. Sciubba is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Council on Foreign Relations and served on PRB’s Board of Trustees from 2019 to early 2024, in roles ranging from the Chair of Governance and Nominating Committee to Vice Chair of the Board. She received her Ph.D. and master’s degree from the University of Maryland and her bachelor’s degree from Agnes Scott College.

Population was seen as key to a brighter future in Singapore’s early days and women were called upon to have smaller families, become more educated, and work outside the home to grow the economy. Today, governments still hang the nation’s future on increasing women’s participation in the labor force, expecting them to care for rapidly increasing older populations, and have larger families. How can we reconcile these often contradictory goals and navigate multiple and conflicting pressures in this time of unprecedented demographic change?
