
Prof Wei-Jun Jean Yeung
President, Population Association of Singapore
Wei-Jun Jean Yeung is Director of Social Sciences at the Singapore Institute of Clinical Science at A*STAR and Professor at the Department of Paediatrics at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore. She was a Provost-Chair Professor in the NUS Department of Sociology in 2008-2023. Professor Yeung is a leading expert in social demography, family studies, population health, and social stratification. She is the inaugural President of the Population Association of Singapore and founding Director of the Centre for Family and Population Research at NUS. Professor Yeung has received many prestigious awards and led national surveys on family and children’s well-being in countries including the USA, China, and Singapore. She has published extensively, cited widely in academic publications and high-impact global media, and served as an advisor to many leading universities and international organizations. Professor Yeung’s current research focuses on family demographic issues in Asia including aging, fertility and marriage, migration, and child development.
