MSC Talk: Understanding Personal Protection Orders (PPO) and the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA) Wednesday, 22 March 2023, 10 am - 11.30 am (Zoom)   Understand more about Personal Protection Orders and the Protection from Harassment Act with speaker Carrie Gills.  Carrie is a Partner in the Family and Divorce Practice Group.  She has over 20 years of experience in this area and has represented high net-worth families, and individuals in a wide range of matrimonial and family law-related disputes as lead counsel in matters heard before the Singapore Family Court, the High Court of Singapore,  the Appellate Division of the High Court and to the Court of Appeal. Carrie has been listed in the Doyle’s Guide for Leading Family & Divorce lawyers in Singapore for six consecutive years from 2017 to 2022 and is identified as a Leading lawyer in the same guide in 2021 and 2022. Carrie is also the author of the chapters ‘The Law Relating to Children’ and ‘The Abduction of Children’ in the upcoming 2022 edition of ‘Law and Practice of Family Law in Singapore’, a publication by Sweet & Maxwell. Carrie is sought after as lead counsel for cases involving complex custody and cross-border transnational matters and in matters involving the division of high net worth assets. Carrie also regularly advises on family matters involving contentious divorces, disputes over the custody of children, the relocation of children, maintenance, family violence/protection orders and maintenance claims.  Carrie is also proficient in Syariah Court matters involving Muslim divorces, custody disputes and assets division.

Heritage Walk: Walking in the Footsteps of our Foremothers (9 Sept)

Immerse yourself in Singapore’s heritage and learn about the impact that women made on our nation’s development. The enriching walk around the city centre takes you by the historic buildings and areas. Learn from our expert guide as we discover: 

The rich stories of the landmarks and key locations along the route; 
How some of the women in the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame lent a hand in the shaping of Singapore’s history 

Walking in the Footsteps of our Foremothers takes you around the Bras Basah Bugis Precinct on foot. The walk is approximately 1.5 hours. 

Things to note: 

Please wear comfortable walking shoes for the walk. 
You are advised to bring along a water bottle to keep yourself hydrated. 
The walk will proceed if there is light rain. 
In the event of cancellation due to heavy rain or unforeseen circumstances, participants will be offered to join a future scheduled walk. We will contact all participants with more details on the rearrangement.
