Member Spotlight: Aidha- helping foreign domestic workers and low-income Singaporean women achieve economic independence
Aidha is an award-winning charity and Institution of Public Character that has been operating in Singapore since 2006. Initially started as a project of the National Committee of UN Women Singapore (then UNIFEM Singapore), Aidha’s mission is to help foreign domestic workers (FDWs) and low-income Singaporean women achieve economic independence through financial education, wealth creation and entrepreneurship. Through Aidha’s programmes, these women gain the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to start taking control of their own financial futures. Aidha has impacted over 4,500 women since its inception and currently has between 400-500 students enrolled at any given time as new classes for FDWs start every month. We offer three…

Understanding CEDAW
SCWO members attended the ‘Understanding CEDAW’ session on 4 March 2019 – an educational platform that aims to provide members with opportunities to gain a deeper appreciation of CEDAW—its mechanisms and its impact on the constitution and legislation in Singapore and to provide a platform for members to share their views and clarify questions. The session was well attended, with a total of 35 participants from 19 organisations. To facilitate an effective evening of learning, the session was kicked off with a presentation sharing by Dr Anamah Tan on CEDAW and the Women’s Charter. Seeds of Change Grant Call ending 30 September 2019
SCWO invites member organisations to apply for the new “Seeds of Change” fund launched on 23rd March 2019 at IWD Gala Dinner 2019. The fund, supported by the Ministry of Social and Family Development Office for Women’s Development (OWD) and administered by SCWO, will support women’s organisations to pilot or scale up women’s development programmes.
