Benefit Cosmetics’ Bold is Beautiful Project in support of the Star Shelter
The Bold is Beautiful Project by Benefit Cosmetics is dedicated to empowering women and girls to be bold, believe in themselves, and achieve their full potential. Every year, Benefit Cosmetics donates 100% proceeds of their Benefit Bar Brow Services during the entire month of May to partner charities and this year, Star Shelter is one of the chosen beneficiaries of this philanthropic initiative.
Star Shelter partnered with Benefit to conduct several activities before the project’s official launch in May 2019. Aside from raising funds for the charity, Benefit also helps organisations raise public awareness on the cause it supports. In March 2019, a media interview was held with Maggie Ford Danielson, Benefit’s Global Beauty Authority and Sandra Aurelia, a survivor and former Star Shelter resident.
In addition, an immersion activity for the Star Shelter residents was held at one of the Benefit Cosmetics’ stores in April 2019. The Benefit Cosmetics Team conducted a workshop and makeover session aimed at boosting the confidence of the residents by getting them looking good and feeling great. The residents had a fun-filled morning getting their brows groomed and trying out Benefit products.
Two launch events were in held in May 2019. Star Shelter Mrs. Wee Wan Joo and Sandra Aurelia, a survivor and former resident were invited to share about the shelter at the Press Event on 2 May 2019. Mrs Wee shared that through Bold is Beautiful Project, supporters can be a part of the survivors’ journey in realising their full potential and be bold. Sandra shared her story on how she was able to rebuild her life with the help of Star Shelter and the community. Lastly, a Consumer Event was held on 17 May 2019 at Sephora ION where Benefit Ambassador, Michelle (@mirchelley), shared with Sephora customers about the Bold is Beautiful campaign and the Star Shelter’s work.
Thank you Benefit Cosmetics for choosing to support the Star Shelter! Your contribution will go a long way in helping the shelter provide holistic support to survivors through meeting their basic needs such as safe accommodation, clothing and food, and addressing their practical and emotional needs through case management, counselling and various forms of therapy. It will also help in the development of programmes and activities to improve the residents’ physical, emotional, and mental well-being, helping them be the kind of beautiful that is beheld in the eyes of this campaign – one filled with courage, boldness, and hope.
