    SCWO 42nd AGM and Announcement Of The 22nd Executive Board For 2022 – 2024

    The Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO) held its 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, 25 June 2022, at SCWO Centre.      It was heartwarming to see the happy smiling faces of our members, who gathered physically for the AGM for the first time since 2019.     Tribute to Mrs Wee Wan Joo

    For over a decade till her passing, Wan Joo was the Chairperson of the Star Shelter a refuge for women and children who are survivors of family violence. She was committed to end violence against women and her passion goes beyond our shores.  She was on the steering committee of the Asian Network of Women Shelters bringing shelters in Asia together to share best practices. Wan Joo was a past president of the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO) and was awarded the PBM in 2011 for her tireless work and dedication to SCWO.     [Volunteers Required] New2U Thrift Shop- Regular shop volunteer

    New2U Thrift shop is looking for regular volunteers who can commit 3-6 months.   Our New2U thrift shops are managed entirely by volunteers, some of whom have been volunteering with New2U for many years. The shop sells pre-loved clothing, accessories, household items, ornaments, books etc. All goods are donated by the general public and are sorted and repriced by volunteers in which proceeds from the store go towards Star Shelter and the various SCWO Initiatives. Duties, very broadly, include: -Registration of customers -Temperature taking -Crowd & safety distance control -Customer service -Hanging of items on shelves, rearranging of items. -Sorting & pricing of donations-for experienced volunteers -Cashiering duties-for experienced volunteers…
