SHECARES@SCWO: A one-stop centre to support victims of online harms
SCWO is proud to announce, in collaboration with SHE, the launch of SHECARES@SCWO, a one-stop centre that provides holistic support for victims of online harms, including a helpline, pro bono legal assistance, counselling and referral to the Police. Types of harms experienced online include cyberbullying, doxxing, cyberstalking and harassment. Women and girls more commonly face gender-based tech-facilitated violence such as sexual harassment, stalking, and non-consensual intimate image sharing. They feel less safe online compared to men, according to research such as the Sunlight Alliance for Action Report by the Ministry of Communication and Information. On Thursday, 12 January 2023, BoardAgender’s second cohort of ten mentees from its Mentoring Programme for Aspiring Women Directors 2022 celebrated the completion of their 6-month mentoring programme at a ceremony held with their mentors and the BoardAgender committee. Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations appoints new CEO
Singapore, 3 Jan 2023 – The Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO) has appointed Ms Koh Yan Ping as Chief Executive Officer with effect from 3 Jan 2023. Ms Koh takes over from Ms Angel Chan, who is relocating overseas with her family. Prior to joining SCWO, Ms Koh was the Deputy Director of the Women and Family unit (WAF) at the National Trades Union Congress, the labour movement’s initiative to support working women in Singapore through advocacy and programmes.
