On 22 September 2022, SCWO jointly hosted an engagement session for our member organisations with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF). This is the second engagement within a year, to seek members’ feedback on the current maintenance enforcement regime.
Minister of State for Home Affairs and Social and Family Development, Ms Sun Xueling, and colleagues from MSF, Ministry of Law, and SCWO Maintenance Support Central committee joined in the conversation to identify the areas that could be enhanced in the current maintenance enforcement regime.
A critical area of discussion was the issue of accountability and non-compliance with the enforcement order by the offender. Many of our members contributed insightful feedback to tackle this predicament, including representatives from the Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE), Daughters of Tomorrow, Singapore Muslim Women Association (PPIS) and Singapore Association of Women Lawyers.
SCWO is thankful for the opportunity to contribute towards more efficient and effective means to enforce maintenance orders for our clients.
